This Media Art course is a foundation program and is designed to introduce the student to Media Arts curriculum. Students in Media Arts 9 will focus on the basic principles of the elements of design as they relate to film and video production. The learning focus of this course is to teach problem solving and critical thinking skills in the visual arts domain. Students will participate in individual project work, cooperative learning and peer tutoring in the following areas.
All assessment will be done in conjunction with each
student, based on a rubric provided at the outset of each
assignment. It is my belief that all students should be
well aware of their marks and standing on any given
assignment early in the process. Marks should never come
as a surprise to a student. Rubrics will be filled out by
students and then justified in consultation with the
teacher to arrive at an appropriate mark for an assignment.
FreshGrade
The visual arts program will be using MyEdBC and FreshGrade to communicate student learning and assessment. Students will be asked to document their work and complete self-assessment weekly using FreshGrade. Student can access their FreshGrade account using their school district login credentials (ex. [email protected] and password). Students will be able to use FreshGrade through the online portal (https://student.freshgrade.com/#connect) or the FreshGrade Student App. Parents will be sent an invite and will be able to see student assessment and assignments using the FreshGrade Parent online portal or FreshGrade Parent app.
